Local History: Our local history began in February, 2007 with the founder , Bob Jackson, being the only known member in the area of Colorado Springs at the time.  He began by working with Memorial Health Sytem's Sally Cudrik to establish a visiting program at Memorial since there was no current program at work. The purpose of the organization is to bring hope, encouragement , and education to all heart disease patients and family members or caregivers. It is also our purpose to make the work load easier for all medical staff by serving along side  them. We began operating under the supervision of Rocky Mountain Denver Chapter #42 with Kevin McCoy as president. We will continue to operate in this manner until we have acheived membership of 30 or more members.

Bob began his work as a volunteer for Memorial Hospital becoming first involved with the  Out Patient Cardiac Rehab Department under the supervision of Debra Curry at the Printer's Park building in Colorado Springs. Eventually he was able to go into the hospital visiting surgical patients under supervision. At present he is the only hospital visitor that has fully reached all eligible requirements for the visiting program. As of this week, visits are made three times each week. Last month, October, 2007, twenty seven people were visited through this program.

We currently have three more people undergoing training for the visiting program and they will begin visiting on their own very soon. Others have also requested the training for the hospital visiting program and will join us soon.

We currently have eleven members and are qualified  to operate as a satellite, still under the Rocky Mountain Denver Chapter #42.
